Vlihadia is a small village in a quaint little bay situated a mere 10 minutes by car from the port of Pothia . It is a very scenic location and well worth the detour. It is one of those places where time slows down to a crawl, things are that tranquil...There are a few tavernas and cafés where you can get a meal or a drink in what is a very laid back environment. The bay provides shelter to a number of caiques (local fishermens’ boats) and the odd sailing boat, especially during adverse weather conditions . It is the perfect place for a swim as the calm waters allow you to confidently distance yourself from shore. The Seaworld Museum located in Vlichadia is a private collection that is open every day during the Summer and hosts a number of interesting artifacts recovered from the sea. As a foretaste you can admire the remains of an old plane and a couple of anchors plainly on display at the entrance.
