The more recent craters are situated a few hundred meters away from the Stefanos volcano on the island of Nisyros and each have their own name: Big Polivotis, Polivotis, Alexandros... just to name a few. Some of these have last been active in the late 19th century. While access is not as easy as for Stefanos (you can't actually reach the bottom in most cases and some places are really difficult to get to), the wild beauty of these sites, the vivid colours and abundant fumes make the trip worth your while.
