The Chrysocheria Castle or Pera Castle is situated mid-way between the villages of Pothia and Chora. It is a relatively small castle situated on a hillock strategically positioned to offer an outstanding view of Pothia and Chora. It was built during the Knights of St John era as a residence for the Governor. The buildings within the castle walls including a storage facility, the church of the Virgin Mary and the more recent church of St George have been maintained in relatively good condition. Chrysocheria was later deemed too small and vulnerable and was abandoned in favor of the Chora castle.
