The church of Zoodohos Pigi Monagri is situated at the foot of Mount Dikaios just outside the Assomatos district of the Asfendiou village. It is a compact, cruciform church. The elevated dome in the middle is characteristic of twelfth century provincial churches. The inside walls of the church are adorned by paintings in different layers, dating from the early to the late Byzantine era. Comparisons with other church paintings in the Dodecanese and study of the techniques used in the older samples, have lead the experts to the conclusion that this church probably dates back to the early 13th century. Even though the damage to the early work has been substantial it remains a remarkable example of the period's religious art.
