Walking up to the Castle of Antimachia from Kardamaina has become a relatively easy task as there is a newly paved road that leads you most of the way. To get to it you can take the road left just behind the Starlight Disco, then go right at the first intersection and then left on the next one. On your right hand side you will notice the beginning of the road (you will notice a big sign with all the details of the project which was financed by the EU). You can of course also take a shortcut if you are on foot, I am sure the locals would be happy to give you instructions on how to get there. The climb is quite arduous as the road is relatively steep, but then again that makes coming back down a lot easier. The view is spectacular and you can also admire the fortress as you come closer and closer to it, and comprehend its strategic positioning in the area and the significance of natural protection. The actual road or trail always used to exist as it was used by inhabitants of Kardamaina seeking refuge in the castle of Antimachia from pirate and Turkish raids. It will take you roughly half an hour to reach the castle once you are on the paved road.
