The Mastichari Beach is a long sandy beach and the ideal place to sit back and relax. There are a lot of sun beds and umbrellas for rent, but you can also just lie on the hot sand if you prefer, or under the trees... A little path takes you to the end of the bay, the walk is quite agreeable and you can always enjoy a little more privacy among the dunes. This part of the island is rather windy which is quite positive during the stifling summer months as there is always a need for a welcome breath of fresh air. The northerly wind often brings a lot of waves, to our avid surfer's delight, with the only minor inconvenience being that sea weeds tend to accumulate on the shore.
A lot of tavernas and café/bars are to be found very close and you can refresh yourself with a cold drink or have a bite to eat. One thing I would strongly recommend would be to take some time to admire the setting sun as the colors are amazingly unique…every single time. For the more active ones among you there is usually a volley ball net setup, but you can also practice your layups at the basketball court or go for some wind surfing or catamaran. For the younger ones among you there is a playground next to the beach where the local children usually gather to play in the late afternoon.
